Flavour Biography: Early life and education
The singer was born as Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli on 23rd November 1983. Flavour is just a stage name he adopted later. While he was born in Enugu State, he is not an indigene of the state. Instead, Flavour’s family is from Umunze in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State.
Chinedu Okoli is the first son of his parents and he has three siblings and seven step-siblings. He grew up in Enugu State and spent most of his childhood there. Flavour completed most of his basic education in the state as well. Besides while growing up, he learned to play the drum. It was through his drumming that he made his big break in the music industry.
Although many people could see Flavour’s gift early enough, his parents discouraged the idea of him pursuing music full time. Like many concerned and sometimes ill-informed parents, they believed he was wasting his time.

Flavour started as a drummer and pianist for a local band in Enugu before he later had the opportunity to perform at the City Centre, Enugu. The ovation he received from the crowd inspired him to greatness.
He got his first shot to prominence with his debut album, N’abania, which Obaino Music produced in 2005. The album’s lead single, N’abania, features one of Nigeria’s top indigenous rappers, Mr Raw.
With the acceptance of his first album among music lovers, Flavour dropped his second album, Uplifted, in 2010 with Lolhiphop Records. The album featured hit singles like “Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)”, “Adamma”, and “Oyi Remix” featuring Tiwa Savage.
In 2012, Flavour dropped one of his most significant projects, Blessed. The 18-track project contained hit tracks like Black Is Beautiful. Ada Ada, Baby Oku, Ikwokrikwo, and Sweet Tomatoes, amongst others.
The project was rich in lyrics and instruments. It also received the contributions of top music producers like Wizboy, Del B, Dekumzy, MJay, Masterkraft, J Stunt, and Selebobo, who worked on it to ensure its professionalism.
Flavour, who is well known for his ability to sing fluently in the Igbo language, was born in Enugu State, Nigeria. His family is originally from Umunze in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria. Flavour began his music career at the age of 13 when he started playing the drums for his church choir in Enugu.
